NK Warns of Stronger War Deterrents

North Korea has warned that it will strengthen all of its war deterrents if provoked by the U.S. and South Korea.

A North Korean representative at the truce village of Panmunjeom made the warning, noting a recent South Korea-U.S. agreement not to reduce U.S. troop strength in the South.

He also noted Washington’s decision to upgrade Seoul’s status in the purchase of American weapons and joint military drills between the two allies.

The North Korean official hinted that the war deterrents he mentioned could include nuclear weapons.

He said his country will not give up on its nuclear program and sit on its hands if the South and the U.S. continue to make war preparations.
