President Kim Dae-jung said Tuesday he would continue to work for human rights and peace at a ceremony marking the first anniversary of his winning the Nobel Peace Prize.
Kim said at the ceremony in Seoul that he considers the passage of human rights and anti-corruption laws this past year to be worthwhile.
Kim said not only would he do his best to work for human rights and peace, but he would also extend the utmost effort to help inter-Korean relations make steady progress based on the principles of reconciliation and cooperation.
Kim also said he would work hard to ensure major national events scheduled for next year, such as the World Cup, the Asian Games and local and presidential elections, come off without a hitch.
