The United States House of Representatives will adopt a resolution Tuesday calling for greater efforts to encourage reunions between Korean-Americans and their separated families in North Korea.
The House will discuss the resolution, sponsored by Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-California) before adopting the resolution.
A secretary at Becerra's office said that the resolution is likely to pass as more than 30 representatives have already shown support for it.
The resolution states that some 500,000 Korean-Americans have not been given the chance to meet relatives in North Korea despite several reunions taking place between Seoul and Pyongyang since June 2000's joint declaration.
