Chances of North Korea sharing next year's World Cup with South Korea are slim.
Lennart Johansson, chairman of FIFA's organizing committee, said North Korea's hosting of some games is a good idea, but it's too late. The South Korean organizers invited North Korea to stage one or two games as a gesture of goodwill but North Korea has not responded. But FIFA president Sepp Blatter left open a small window of opportunity. The deadline for North Korea to respond is Saturday, the day of the World Cup draw. North Korea in 19-66 became the only Asian nation to reach the World Cup quarterfinals. It has not qualified since. South Korea and Japan will co-host the World Cup next year.
