The final draw for the 2002 World Cup is held.

South Korea will compete in its first World Cup match with Poland as the European team was placed in Group D to which Korea belongs in the| Final Draw for the 2002 World Cup Finals held in South Korea's port city of Busan. The co-host of the 2002 World Cup Finals, Japan, is paired against Russia in its first match, as Russia went to Group H, to which Japan belongs. France will meet Senegal in the 2002 World Cup's first-ever match to be held at the Seoul World Cup Stadium, in Seoul, Korea at 8:30 pm on May 31.
Four Groups of four teams, Groups A, B, C, and D will hold their matches in South Korea, while the other four groups, Groups E, F, G, and H will meet in Japan.
Strong teams, Portugal and the United States are the two other teams which were placed in Group D to which Korea belongs. Belgium and Tunisia went to Group H which includes Japan. Group F has the four strongest teams, Argentina, Sweden, England and Nigeria. Senegal, Uruguay and Denmark were placed in Group A with France, the winner of the 1998 FIFA World Cup. Spain, Slovenia, Paraguay and South Africa were grouped in Group B which will compete in South Korea. Group C is made up of Brazil, Turkey, China, & Costa Rica. Group E includes Germany, Saudi Arabia, Ireland, & Cameroon, while Group G is composed of Italy, Equador, Croatia & Mexico.
