The Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine will launch a nationwide study on ancient acupuncture and moxibustion techniques.

The institute said Wednesday it's seeking to gather information on treatments handed down through the generations.

This marks the first time since the Japanese colonial era for a national organization to launch a study on acupuncture and moxibustion, or the use of burned mugwort in medical treatments.
