Enrique Borja Garcia, a member of FIFA's Organizing Committee for next year's World Cup soccer finals, was named Saturday to stand as a backup for the 13 people drawing teams for next year's tournament at a ceremony here later in the day.
Among the 13 selected to conduct the draw, FIFA plans to have the top soccer officials from co-hosts South Korea and Japan walk jointly onto the stage in a show of friendship between the two countries.
The two officials are FIFA Vice President and co-chairman of the Korean World Cup Organizing Committee (KOWOC) Chung Mong-joon and Okano Shunichiro, president of the Japan Football Association (JFA).
Should the remaining 11 official drawers choose to walk on in pairs, the last will be left alone. Garcia, former president of the Mexican Football Association, will then help form the final coupling.
