It has been confirmed that a North Korean refugee, whose request for asylum in Russia was rejected, finally settled in South Korea in April.

A Seoul official said Thursday that Chung Kum-chol arrived in South Korea on April 17th.

Chong, a North Korean construction worker in Siberia, was caught by the Russian authorities in early November last year.

On the verge of being repatriated to North Korea, he escaped to the protection of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

After his application for asylum in Russia was rejected, he asked to be sent to South Korea.
