No. of NK Workers Tops 30,000 at Gaeseong

More than 30-thousand North Korean people work at the inter-Korean joint venture industrial complex in Gaeseong, North Korea.

An operational body of the industrial park said Tuesday that five South Korean companies having plants there recently employed 282 new North Korean workers, bringing the total number to just over 30-thousand.

More than 70 South Korean companies operate at the industrial complex across the border, with one company hiring over 400 North Korean workers annually.

The number of North Korean workers at the complex grew from 255 in December 2004 to over 20-thousand by November 2007.
