S. Korea wins back air safety recognition

South Korea has won back the category one air safety rating. The Construction and Transportation Ministry said the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration notified the government of the decision through the U.S. Ambassador in Seoul Thursday. The restoration of the nation's aviation safety ratings comes about three months after the F-A-A downgraded South Korea's air safety standards in August. The ministry hopes the move will improve South Korea's external image and create a new aviation demand ahead of the World Cup next year. Earlier, the National Assembly passed revisions to the air safety law, and established a special committee in charge of accident prevention and investigations into air accidents.
