Lectures Mark Korea's 60th Birthday

Sixty noted figures will give lectures for 60 days in celebration of the 60th anniversary of South Korea.

The 60th anniversary memorial committee said the speeches themed 'History Meets the Future' will take place every evening starting Monday through September 11th at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts courtyard.

An official says the lectures, the first of a series of anniversary events, will academically examine the diverse development of Korea and will address its future course.

The first of many speakers is former Culture Minister, Professor Lee Eo-ryeong. The list includes ex-Seoul National University President Chung Un-chan, the naturalized German national Mr. Lee Cham, Korea Green Foundation Chairman Choi Yul, ex-Prime Minister Jo Sun, Korea's first astronaut Yi So-yeon and singer and producer Park Jin-young.
