Hyundai Asan Requests NK Reveal CCTV Footage

Hyundai Asan requested North Korea disclose footage from a surveillance camera overlooking the site of last Friday’s tourist shooting.

The planning office of the South Korean operator for the Mount Geumgang tours said Tuesday that a company official stationed in the North asked Pyongyang to hand over the closed-circuit TV (CCTV) footage.

The CCTV is situated one-hundred meters from the seaside and is facing south. It is suspected of possibly holding the key as to what happened early Friday morning when South Korean tourist Park Wang-ja was gunned down by a North Korean soldier.

Hyundai Asan said the CCTV set was set up in 2005 after a South Korean firm delivered it to the North’s office in charge of land development.
