Gov’t Launches Joint Probe into Tourist Death

The government launched a joint probe team to investigate the death of a South Korean tourist, who was killed at the North’s Mount Geumgang resort Friday.

The probe team is comprised of experts and officials from the Unification Ministry, the National Police Agency, the National Institute of Scientific Investigation and five other ministries and agencies.

Since its inaugural session on Monday, the team has held meetings to try to deduce what happened based on witness accounts.

Also, the joint team is drafting a list of questions in preparation for its possible visit to the North Korean mountain resort.

Meanwhile, the Unification Ministry is waiting for a report from Hyundai Asan President Yoon Man-jun, who is expected to return Tuesday from North Korea. Then, the ministry will judge Pyongyang’s response and intentions.
