Gov’t Seeks Joint Probe into Geumgang Shooting

The Unification Ministry is again trying to send North Korea a message demanding a joint investigation into the death of a South Korean tourist at the North's Mount Geumgang.

A ministry spokesman said Tuesday that Seoul is seeking to send the message through a contact with North Korea’s liaison office at the border village of Panmunjeom.

North Korea refused to accept the message demanding a joint investigation on Saturday.

The government has not yet confirmed whether officials from Hyundai Asan, the operator of tour programs to the resort, checked the site of the killing during their post-shooting visit to Geumgang.
