The head of Hyundai Asan, which conducts tourism to North Korea's Mount Geumgang resort, will visit Gaeseong on Friday to check the safety of tour programs in the North Korean city.

Hyundai Asan said Thursday that its president and chief executive, Yoon Man-joon, will visit major tourist attractions in Gaeseong to confirm the safety of the tour programs, and instruct his employees to pay closer attention to tourists' safety.

The company has doubled the number of tour conductors for Gaeseong programs since a North Korean soldier shot and killed a South Korean tourist at the Mount Geumgang resort late last week for trespassing into a restricted area.

Hyundai has also strengthened safety education for tourists and increased the number of guides on site.
