The Ministry of Information and Communication said Friday....South Korea's mobile telecommunication exports this year will total an estimated 10 billion US dollars. In the first eleven months, the export volume of mobile telecommunication systems and equipment hit 8.56 billion dollars, excluding network equipment and wireless Internet platforms. Mobile telecommunication sector exports have nearly doubled three years in a row, marking 870 million dollars in 1997, 1.78 billion dollars in 1998, 4.95 billion dollars in 1999 and 7.42 billion dollars last year. The ministry expects next year's mobile telecommunication exports to reach 15 billion dollars since "Mobile Vision 2005," a government-led plan to help local mobile telecom carriers to enter foreign markets, is proceeding smoothly.
