South Korean Foreign Minister Yoo Myung-hwan on Thursday urged North Korea to accept Seoul's proposal of a joint investigation into the recent shooting death of a South Korean tourist at the Mount Geumgang resort.
According to Assistant Foreign Minister Lee Yong-joon, Yoo called for the North's cooperation with a joint probe into the incident in a speech at the ASEAN Regional Forum.
Lee said many other foreign ministers at the regional security forum agreed that the two Koreas should resolve the issue peacefully.
North Korean Foreign Minister Pak Ui-chun responded by saying that the shooting incident is a matter between the two Koreas.
He also accused the Lee Myung-bak administration of negating the two inter-Korean summit agreements signed under former administrations, arguing that the South Korean government was threatening peace on the Korean Peninsula.
