Few Cancel Plans to Tour Geumgang in Sep.

The killing of a South Korean tourist by a North Korean soldier at Mount Geumgang apparently hasn't hurt the poularity of tours to the scenic mountain resort.

Although the tours have been officially suspended, there have been almost no cancellations of tours booked for September.

Tour operator Hyundai Asan says reservations booked for July to September totaled over 769-thousand prior to July tenth. The number is down to some 533-thousand after the tourist's death on July eleventh.

The majority of the cancellations have been for July and August tours, which are currently impossible due to the suspension. But most travelers have withheld their reservations for tours from mid-August to September.

A Hyundai official says the company is surprised at the number of people who expect the resumption of tours to occur in September.
