A report said Tuesday that Korea is the most popular destination for Japanese people on their `end of year' overseas trips. The report by JTB, one of Japan's largest tourist companies, said Korea topped the list of Japanese people's top overseas tourist spots for the second consecutive year. The report is based on the results of a survey and the company's booking records for the Dec. 23 through Jan. 3 period. Out of 437,000 Japanese tourists estimated to travel abroad at the turn of this year, about 62,000 are expected to come to South Korea. Europe came in second place with 45,000, followed by Hawaii with 43,000. China, Guam and Saipan placed fourth, each with 40,000 people. The United States, which took fourth position in last year's report, slipped to 10th as tourism plunged in the wake of September's terrorist attacks and an airplane crash in New York.
