Investigators say the South Korean tourist who was killed at Mount Geumgang last month is likely to have been shot from a distance of within 100 meters.

An official at the Unification Ministry said Friday that the joint government probe team investigating the death of tourist Park Wang-ja made the assessment after conducting a simulated experiment.

In particular, the probe team said analysis of the two shot wounds in the tourist’s body indicate that she was walking slowly or was standing still at the time she was shot. The North claims it shot Park after she refused to heed orders to stop running.
