Increased Safety on Gaeseong Tours

Safety measures have been bolstered on tours to the North Korean border city of Gaeseong since the fatal shooting of a South Korean tourist at the North's Mount Geumgang.

Tour operator Hyundai Asan says it has increased the number of on-site staffers at Gaeseong from seven to 30. The new staffers were former aides to the Geumgang tour, which has been suspended since the shooting incident.

In addition, travel precautions, previously shown on video or explained verbally, are now printed out on paper.

Interest in the Gaesong tours continues to remain steady as nearly 15-hundred South Koreans visited the complex this week.
