North Korea says it will expel all "unnecessary" South Korean personnel working at Mount Geumgang resort.

In a statement issued Sunday, a North Korean military spokesman announced a strong military response against even the slightest hostile action at the resort.

He also said the North Korean military will control the area from now on, and that the passage of people and vehicles to the mountain through the military demarcation line will face tougher restrictions.

Pyongyang also blamed Seoul for last month's shooting death of a South Korean tourist in the resort area.

The spokesman said a soldier had no choice but to shoot because the victim, Park Wang-ja, entered a restricted military zone near the resort.

On South Korea's request for an onsite investigation, Pyongyang said it has done enough as it allowed Seoul officials to check the scene and remove the victim’s body.
