A record number of beach umbrellas have been put up on Haeundae Beach in the country's largest port city of Busan.

The Haeundae district office said Sunday that 7,939 beach umbrellas were put up at 4 p.m. Saturday, a mark which the district will register with the Guinness Book of World Records in three months.

The 1.5 kilometer-long beach was covered with umbrellas, along with about one million vacationers.
