A meeting supporting the return of South Korean prisoners of war was held for the first time since the new government’s inauguration in February.

Presided over by the vice defense minister, the meeting set the direction of the new government’s policies on the POW issue while discussing ways of bringing South Korean war prisoners home and supporting them upon their return.

The committee on South Korean war prisoners regularly convenes twice a year.

Despite North Korea’s denial, 560 South Korean POWs are reportedly being held across the border.
