22 Hyundai Asan Staff to Leave N.K. Resort

The South Korean operator of the Mount Geumgang tour in North Korea will recall 22 staff back to the South Wednesday.

Hyundai Asan Corp. said Sunday that it made the decision after a probe failed to produce results into the shooting death of a South Korean tourist at the scenic mountain.

The remaining 25 staff at Mount Geumgang will remain to conduct facility maintenance.

The company denied that its decision was related to the North’s announcement this week that it will expel what it called "unnecessary" South Korean workers from the resort.

Hyundai Asan said the move is part of personnel downsizing amid the prolonged suspension of the tour.
