NK Alters Wording of S.Korean Trip Approvals

North Korean organizations have reportedly changed the wording of approval notices sent to South Korean applicants wishing to visit the North.

A Unification Ministry official in Seoul said Wednesday that starting last Tuesday, North Korean groups began sending approvals saying they simply “agree” to South Korean civic groups’ requests of trips to Pyongyang. Before the change, the approvals used the term "invite."

The latest documents also fail to address any guarantees concerning the safety of South Korean visitors.

Accordingly, the ministry official said the Seoul government is demanding Pyongyang reinstate the use of the term “invite” in related documents presented to South Korean civic groups.
