Russia cuts pollack fishing quota to S. Korea by 28.6%

Russia has allotted an Alaska pollack fishing quota of 25,000 tons to South Korea in its exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the North Pacific next year, down 28.6 percent from this year's 35,000 tons (25,000 tons in the Bering Sea and 10,000 tons in the Okhotsk Sea). South Korea's Assistant Marine Affairs and Fisheries Minister Park Jae-yong, visiting here for fisheries talks with Russian officials, revealed this in a meeting with South Korean reporters held over the weekend. In addition, Russia gave South Korea a codfish quota of 2,500 tons and a cuttlefish quota of 7,300 tons. Park said...for these quotas, Russia has set the numbers of South Korean fishing boats operating in its North Pacific EEZ next year at 30 for Alaska pollack, including 16 carriers, 105 for cuttlefish and seven for codfish.
