RFID Keys to Ease Entry for NK-Bound Cars

An automatic passage permission system will expedite border crossings for South Korean cars heading to the Gaeseong Industrial Complex in North Korea.

The Unification Ministry plans to issue electronic pass keys to all vehicles that regularly visit the inter-Korean joint venture.

At the inter-Korean immigration office, a wireless reader automatically permits the passage of cars with electronic pass keys using radio-frequency identification technology.

Currently, due to a tight budget, only cars that commute between the two Koreas more than twice a week will be able to utilize the automatic passage permission system.
