More People Leave Mt. Geumgang

The number of South Korean people staying at North Korea’s Mount Geumgang resort has shrunk to 199.

A spokesman for the Unification Ministry said that 150 South Koreans and foreigners left Geumgang Wednesday.

The departure follows a North Korean request for a decrease in the number of South Koreans and foreigners staying at the resort.

A North Korean tourism official visited Hyundai Asan’s Geumgang office on August 14th and asked it to reduce its number of South Koreans and foreigners there to around 200.

Hyundai Asan is the South Korean operator of tour programs to Mount Geumgang.

The spokesman also said the Korea Tourism Organization brought back more than 900 boxes of South Korean products from the resort.
