World Ceramic Festival Invites Artists to Int'l Competition

Gyeonggi Province and the World Ceramic Exposition Foundation will invite artists from around the world to the 5th World Ceramic Biennale 2009 Korea International Competition.

The finalists will be determined during a two-stage screening of images and actual works.

The winning ceramic works will be awarded prizes at the opening of the World Ceramic Biennale on April 25th next year and will be displayed at the Icheon World Ceramic Center.

The top 26 participants will receive prizes, with the grand prize totaling 60-million won, or about 57-thousand dollars, and a gold prize worth 20-million won.

In the 4th World Ceramic Biennale last year, some 14-hundred artists from 66 countries entered over 24-hundred ceramic works. Danish ceramic artist Bodil Manz won the grand prize.
