Seoul City has announced plans to turn Took-som islet on the Han river into a mammoth culture and tourism town. The 10-year development plan calls for constructing a mammoth hotel, a China town and a media center on more than one million square meters of land. Beijing officials were in Seoul earlier this week to discuss details for the proposed Chinatown. The complex also includes a performance hall, an exhibition center, a theme museum, a theme park and a shopping mall. The complex will also house medium-priced hotels for backpackers and tourists. Seoul Mayor Goh Kun reported the plan to President Kim Dae-jung Thursday.
