West Coast Highway dedicated

After eleven years of construction, the West Coast Highway has finally opened. The three hundred-53 kilometer stretch linking Inchon and Mokpo has reduced travel time between the two cities to just four hours ... from eight hours in the past. Officials say the new highway is expected to save five hundred-60 billion won in distribution cost annually. President Kim Dae-jung was on hand at the dedication ceremony. The president said the highway will lead the nation's development as a center of distribution and usher in the age of the West Coast. The construction cost four point seven trillion won or some three point six billion U.S. dollars. The West Coast Highway is the second largest expressway in Korea after the Seoul-Busan Highway which is four-hundred-28 kilometers long.
