WFP to Continue Requests for NK Food Aid

The World Food Program (WFP) will reportedly request the international community provide food aid to North Korea.

The UN agency will hold a news conference Tuesday in Beijing to prompt the international community to join its planned 580-million-dollar emergency relief program for the North.

A WFP official added that the planned news conference is singling out Seoul, which has remained silent on the WFP’s recent requests for food aid to the North.

In Seoul, the Unification Ministry said the government will announce its position on the matter after consulting with other related government agencies and assessing public opinion.
