Gov't Urges NK to Refrain from Unilateral Actions

Foreign Minister Yoo Myung-hwan urged North Korea Thursday to refrain from taking unilateral measures after Pyongyang halted its nuclear disablement process and restored part of the removed equipment to its Yongbyon facility.

At a news briefing, he said it was very regrettable that the North is taking restoration steps at a time when it should be solidifying its efforts to complete the second phase of its denuclearization.

The minister also called on the North to show more of a sincere attitude toward the ongoing negotiations for the verification of its nuclear programs, adding that disruptions in the six-party process would be undesirable for all the parties involved.

In addition, he made it clear that Seoul has no plan to stop its energy assistance to the North.
