A group of scholars have launched a forum to ensure press freedom and media publicness.

The Media Publicness Forum, comprised of some 200 professors nationwide, will monitor the government and ruling party’s policies on newspapers, broadcasting and Internet regulations.

The forum will present specific policy alternatives. It will operate using four subdivisions: newspapers, broadcasting, communications and Internet and advertising.

Professor Kang Sang-hyun of Yonsei University, who led the forum, criticized the government for allegedly clamping down on Internet users and public broadcasting companies. He went on to say that the Korea Communications Commission is biased.
