The 7th Gwangju Biennale has opened. The opening ceremony on Friday was attended by Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Yu In-chon, Gwangju Mayor Park Kwang-tae, General Director Okwui Enwezor and about one-thousand cultural figures.

Under this year’s theme of “Annual Report,”127 artists from 36 countries displayed 150 artworks in the event's main exhibition hall, Gwangju Museum of Art, Uijae Museum of Korean Art and at a local marketplace and theater.

On the opening night, citizens took part in a street march commemorating the pro-democracy uprising on May 18th, 1980.
