'US Turmoil Demonstrates Capitalism's Weaknesses'

North Korea’s Pyongyang Broadcasting Station claims the recent financial turmoil in the U.S. clearly demonstrates the vulnerabilities of capitalism.

The report said the reasons the fourth largest U.S. investment bank, Lehman Brothers, filed for bankruptcy were that it invested too heavily in mortgage-backed bonds and that it fell victim to the sluggish U.S. economy during the Bush administration.

The report added that the recent financial meltdown has pushed the already faltering U.S. economy into deeper troubles. The broadcaster issued the claim as it cited speculation, fraud, disorder and confusion as weaknesses of capitalism.

The report said voices critical to the Bush administration’s policies are rising within the U.S. as a result of the financial turmoil.
