The Unification Ministry says that its proposal to rename the former administration's policy toward North Korea in school textbooks does not intend to delete the name altogether.
The ministry suggested in June that the "Sunshine Policy" be changed to a policy of "reconciliation and cooperation" in textbooks.
In a Monday briefing, ministry spokesman Kim Ho-nyoun said the ministry was simply proposing the use of the official title Kim Dae-jung's administration used for its North Korean policy, which was a policy of "reconciliation and cooperation."
Kim denied any intent to remove the term "sunshine" or judge the previous policy. He said the term "Sunshine Policy" will be included in a book set to come out next year covering unification issues.
As for North Korean media airing anti-South propaganda, he said Pyongyang Broadcasting Station and the Korean Central Broadcasting Station aired propaganda 40 to 60 times per week in August and only 20 to 30 times per week this month.
