North Korea wants to hold working-level military talks with South Korea on Tuesday.

The Defense Ministry in Seoul said Friday that the North made the proposal through an inter-Korean military communication channel on Thursday morning.

In a message sent to the South, the North proposed talks to discuss a range of agreements that have been made between the two sides' military authorities.

Relevant ministries are discussing whether to accept the North's proposal.

The ministry says it may counterpropose holding talks on October second or third.
