Oct. 4th Summit Declaration Events Begin Wednesday

A ceremony will be held from Wednesday to mark the first anniversary of the inter-Korean summit declaration signed on October fourth of last year. The event will take place at the Millennium Hilton Hotel in Seoul.

The preparatory committee for the ceremony said former President Roh Moo-hyun, and senior government officials that accompanied him during his visit to Pyongyang last year, will be attending the ceremony. A congratulatory video message from U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will be shown during the event.

Former President Roh is expected to deliver a special 40-minute lecture on South-North relations. No details have been released as to the content of the speech.

The South’s committee on implementing the June 15th Joint Declaration will hold its own ceremony in front of Imjingak, an area in the South near the DMZ.
