N.Korean Leader Makes Public Appearance

North Korean leader Kim Jong-il has made his first public appearance in nearly two months.

The North’s official Korean Central News Agency said Saturday evening that he watched a soccer game at Kim Il-sung University to mark the school’s 62nd anniversary.

Kim was quoted as saying the revolutionary and militant students of his nation are good at art and sports, while devoting their wisdom and enthusiasm to the study of science for the country and the people.

The report did not say when or where the game took place, but added Kim watched it with officials of the North's Workers' Party. It was unclear if they were at the stadium or watching on television.

No mention was also made of his health.

Kim's last public appearance came August 14, when he inspected a military unit.
