The proportion of female elementary school teachers in Gangnam, Seocho and Yongsan districts in Seoul has topped 90 percent.

According to the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, 91.5 percent of elementary school teachers in Seocho District are women. Female teachers account for 91.4 percent of all elementary school teachers in Gangnam District. In Yongsan District, 91.1 percent of elementary school teachers are women.

The rate of female elementary school teachers is near 90 percent in other districts such as Gangdong, Songpa, Mapo and Youngdeungpo.

The number of female elementary teachers will grow further, as women constitute some 90 percent of successful applicants for the elementary school teacher employment exam in Seoul.
