Korean netizens are reported to have New Year's wishes for improved welfare of the general populace rather than their personal well being. This fact was revealed in a Homepage set up at the presidential residence, which had conducted a netizens' requests poll for their New Year's wishes from December 21st thru the 31st of last year. Of the 215 respondents, 30 percent picked the successful hosting of the World Cup to be the top on their wish list, followed by the economic recovery and national unification.
