'NK Missile Firing Was Routine Drill'

The Defense Ministry says North Korea's firing of two short-range missiles into the Yellow Sea seems to be part of a routine drill.

Ministry spokesman Won Tae-jae on Thursday told a news briefing that Seoul does not see the latest developments in North Korea as signs foreboding a new military movement in Pyongyang.

The South Korean military is reportedly analyzing the North’s intention behind the latest missile firing from various angles, as the North has banned vessels’ passage in certain areas in the Yellow Sea from October 15.

North Korea fired two air-to-ship missiles into the Yellow Sea Wednesday.
