Universities May Start School Year in Fall

South Korean colleges and universities will be able to begin the school year in fall starting as early as next year.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology notified the legislation of the revised Higher Education Act, which will give schools the ability to decide when to begin the school year.

Therefore, schools can decide whether to begin their school year in March or in September. Currently, all schools start in March.

In addition, according to the revised law, universities with graduate programs will be allowed to have integrated six-year bachelor’s and master’s degree programs or four-year master’s and doctorate degree programs.
