Gov't to Improve Art, Culture, Physical Education

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism have signed an agreement to jointly push for projects to improve culture, art and physical education at schools.

Under the agreement, the two ministries will spend one-point-two trillion won by 2012 to increase the number of physical educators and art teachers, and to build playgrounds and multi-purpose gymnasiums at schools.

The ministries will increase by 2012 the number of art teachers to five-thousand from the current two-thousand-500, and that of assistant teachers for physical education will be raised to two-thousand-200 from the current 900.
