The 2008 Book Show has opened in Paju, Gyeonggi Province.

Designer Lee Jeong-hwa’s fashion show was a splendid opening for the exhibition on Friday.

The event, under the theme “A book in hand,” was jointly hosted by KBS and Gyeonggi Province and sponsored by Korean Publishers Society.

At the exhibition, the original Daedongyeojido, a Joseon Dynasty map of the Korean Peninsula, will be on display for public view for the first time. Also on exhibition will be rare copies of historic books and documents, including the famous love story “Chunghyang” and the poetry book “The Silence of My Love.”

The Book Show will hold various events for one month, including discussions and meetings with authors open for readers’ participation.
