Govt. to Ease Regulations on Medical Firms

The government plans to ease regulations on medical corporations.

The Ministry for Health, Welfare and Family Affairs presented a revised bill to the National Assembly which would allow medical firms to operate tourist lodgings and senior care facilities.

The ministry said its decision was based on the matter of equality, noting hospitals that are established by schools or social welfare corporations are not subject to regulations when setting up subsidiary facilities.

But the ministry has prohibited medical corporations from investing more than one-third of their assets in setting up the subsidiary facilities out of concern that medical firms could become engrossed in making money.
