North Korean defectors in South Korea who had worked as professionals in the North launched an organization for solidarity on Friday.

The "NK Intellectuals Solidarity" comprises 104 defectors ― including university professors, journalists, writers, doctors, government officials and others from their home country.

Through studies on North Korea and publications, they will make policy proposals and try to expose the communist state for what it really is.

The solidarity has also launched a quarterly magazine based on information acquired from other defectors and North Korean residents.

Overall, North Korean defectors now number some 14-thousand.
