A civic group shipped 500 tons of flour to North Korea on Friday.

The domestic branch of the international relief organization Join Together Society (JTS) sent the flour from the port of Incheon in 25-thousand bags. The flour will be sent to the North’s Gangwon Province and given to nurseries, elementary schools and asylums.

JTS had previously sent 700 tons of flour through official South Korean channels and 495 tons of noodles through China as food aid for the North's Hamgyeong and Ryanggang Provinces.
